AJ's on the Bayou in Fort Walton Beach

Classic shore dining...the hidden gem is the coleslaw..who knew? everyone knows that coleslaw is one of those things where you have to hit the perfect ratio of vinegar and mayonnaise, salt, sugar, pepper...to make excellent coleslaw...They Did It!!They get one point off for serving me a mimosa in a plastic cup even though it was great...I had grilled grouper..the flat kind that looks suspiciously like Tilapia...not the kind that's shaped like a deck of cards..but taste was noteably perfectly seasoned!! They've got an outdoor deck and live music time to time so...this is a cool beans stop I can easily recommend..and....the price was right...

Amazing place right on the water. Recommend the speciality drinks and be sure to look at their daily specials. Also had a great musician playing many top hits.

Super slow service even though they were not busy. There for at least 3 hrs for a quick bite to eat and not even drinks. They charged something on my check that I didn't order. Oysters were great but the actual dinner we chose wasn't. The live music outside was pretty nice, I did enjoy that! Sunset view amazing!!

Amazing food and service! Will definitely visit again next time we're in town. Best night of our vacation so far!

Loved that we docked our boat grab a few Appetizers, staff was friend and had knowledge of the menu. Smoke tuna dip was a favorite. One of the best oysters I had. The were large and fresh. Crab and spinach dip was a good dip. Just chips were to greasy.

My boyfriend and I went on a Sunday during lunch hours. Great service and great prices. The blackened grouper with slaw and sweet potato fries was AMAZING. Literally ate everything on my platter-sized plate and then the rest of my boyfriend's fries. Their house hot sauce is probably the best I've ever had.

I really like the atmosphere of the place. Laid back and relaxing just like it should be when on the bayou. The food was good and the service was good. It was a little pricey but most places that have a mainly seafood menu are.

Had our gender reveal here the other day and our waiter Christan really made it that more special he checked on us constantly to see how we were and if we need anything for him. The food was amazing and the view and environment were stunning. I highly recommend and will definitely be coming back !

Cool little spot with a great view. This place offers a patio with waterfront view. Plenty of parking. Service was fantastic! We ordered oysters and peel and eat shrimp. Our time was accompanied by a live singer to set the mood. It was not impressive but didn’t disappoint either.

Well the best part was the music, the location and my company. We had to clean our own table, flag down the waiter that never came back to take our order and get our drinks inside, which is were we should have been all along but our dog 🐕 did have porch privileges.

Wanted good seafood... "Evening Special" was pork chops... took a chance and was pleasantly surprised! In fact, they were fabulous, cooked perfectly with a mushroom sauce and steamed spinach. I would stop again for this meal... It was that good!!Also enjoyed steamed oysters, which were good! But whoever is shucking the oysters needs to be retrained!!! They shredded the meat, failed to disconnect the adductor which made for poor presentation and also a complicated eating process... please retrain! Otherwise I would go here again! Amy also is exactly what a server/bartender should be. There when you need her... not hovering, but easy to find when needed.

Great place to enjoy live entertainment. Kid-friendly. Want to make yourself and kids happy bring them to the bayou.

The food and service was amazing!!! Live music to top it off! Loved eating by the water and then feeding the fish. Highly recommend!!

We drove up from Ocala to visit my son who is stationed here in the Air Force. We had a delicious lunch while waiting for him to join us. The waitress was very attentive, food was wonderful, and the view amazing. So calm and relaxing. He arrived in uniform and we ordered his food. At the end of the meal when we said we were ready for the check, we were told that it had been paid for! We weren’t told who did this, but were are SO appreciative! So if that person reads this review, please know much that meant to us! Great place, great staff, and great food!

Average food. Terrible service on multiple occasions. Ignore customers at tables. Even the bartenders ignore people at the bar with empty drink glasses! Only positive I can say is they bring in decent bands to perform music.

This is a great restaurant for every occasion: Dates, family gatherings, or just for fun. We went there and it was loud due to karaoke, but it was so much fun! The food was a good price and so tasty, but if you're gonna get drinks and appetizers the bill is gonna get expensive. It's actually pretty cheap if you just get the meals and water. I'd recommend this to anyone and I'll be there again when I'm around. Drive in or tie in with your boat to see some great service, taste some great food, and have a great atmosphere! AJ's is great!
